I recently acquired a commercial building with a 1910 Otis freight elevator. It has the original inspection certificate dated 1927 when it went into service and seems in fine shape. It was locked down decades ago and has not been touched since.
The location of this elevator is in Los Angeles California Area and all offers will be considered. If you are interested in purchasing it please contact donaldkain@hotmail.com for more information! What a cool piece of history this is! It’s like it’s own time capsule.

| Q: | Question - did the previous poster (Eileen Stokes AKA 51Pres) say what her location was or how she could be contacted? Any info would be helpful. Thanx David Carpenter nameless_monster@yahoo.com posted by: olddarkhouse 11/5/2009 11:52:34 AM |

| Q: | There is a market for this equipment. Maybe not as a complete assembly but for component items. There are collectors out there who have elevators are are looking for period equipment. If you can salvage the metal work cab, controls, doors you can look at selling them. The rest of the equipment, controller, rails, hoistway doors may not be as desireable. posted by: ers 9/18/2009 10:57:49 AM |
| A: | You are correct ers. Good point and assumption to be made. Perhaps the parts can be salvaged and posted for sale here. |
| Q: | Hi, I work with a local historic preservation commission and am faced with an upcoming house demolition that contains a cira teens to 1920's house elevator. Is there an interest in old elevators? Have you had interest in purchasig yours? I fully understand that there are vast differences in interest for different kinds of products but I'm looking for any kind of feedback. The owners want to scrap everything for convenience. We are trying to salvage items where feasible. Timing is important. This isn't a fancy elevator, pretty basic. Thanks for any information. Eileen Stokes posted by: 51pres 9/18/2009 10:44:53 AM |
