DESCRIPTION

Let me start by saying that really don't know anything about elevators. I recently bought an old funeral home in Iowa and didn't even know the elevator was in there until after we bought it. From what I can find the funeral home opened in 1923. The plate on the elevator has patent dates starting in 1878 I believe. I love antiques but I have no use for this. I want to take it out so I can expand a bathroom. It's not a cage elevator, it is more of a lift, nothing fancy. It looks like it was made specifically to move caskets/guerneys. It is made of cast iron so I am guessing quite heavy. All of the turning gears are there and still hooked up. As far as I know it all works but the breakers were taken out of the box. I have no plans of using the elevator so no plans on replacing the breakers. I have no idea what these are worth and no idea what to ask for it. So just make an offer, worst that can happen is I say no. If you want it, you will have to remove it all yourself, without damaging the house...or yourself. Let me know if you have any questions.

Q: What is the width, length, and height of the elevator? Fred  posted by: FREDEEMACK  8/7/2010 8:35:24 PM

Q: Questions: 1) Is this unit still in operating order? 2) Is this elevator for 2 or 3 stories or more? 3) Does this elevator need to be dismantled or is it already dismantled? 4) Does this elevator run on 110 or 220? 5) Does the electric motor still work? 6) Is this elevator run by cable, belt, or chain. 7) Can you email some better pictures with flash? 8) What city and state is the elevator located in? Please answer as many questions as possible immediately. Answer remaining questions as soon as possible. My email is ffranke@cox.net Thank You. Fred  posted by: FREDEEMACK  8/7/2010 8:31:51 PM
